For centuries, China has captured the imagination of many people across the world, with its literary legacy, politics and rich culture. Join longterm Macau resident, Kevin Maher, Chinese poet and translator Yolanda Yu, alongside biographer John Holliday (great-great grandson of Walter Medhurst: the first Englishman to start spreading Christianity to China), as well as scholar of Chinese/India relations, Anurag Viswanath. Panelists discuss China’s legacy with Louisa Lim: researcher, journalist, podcaster, and author of The People’s Republic of Amnesia: Tiananmen Revisited.

Kevin M Maher is an American teacher of English and Creative Writing at the University of Macau. He has published short stories in Macau, Hong Kong, South Korea and the U.S.

Louisa Lim is an award winning writer, journalist and podcaster and author of The People's Republic of Amnesia; Tiananmen Revisited (Oxford University Press), shortlisted for the Orwell Prize and the Helen Bernstein Book Prize for Excellence in Journalism.

Yolanda Yu Miaomiao is an award winning poet and short story writer from China living in Singapore since 1998.

John Holliday specialises in biographical writing. He is the author of Mission to China: How an Englishman brought theWest to the Orient (Amberley Publishing).

Anurag Mohanty Viswanath is a prolific writer and columnist of Chinese culture. She holds a Ph.D in Political Science from the University of Delhi and is the author of Finding India in China: Travels to the lesser known (2015)..
